# A Map of Quiet Places — player guide

Support: **info@gallaxgames.com**. The game is being prepared for iPhone; public availability has not been announced.

## Beginning

Choose Set sail. Your vessel travels automatically to Lantern Reach. Trace a current across the ship scene or tap Gather a current. Both controls have exactly the same effect. Five initial touches fill the sail, increasing travel and surveying speed for 90 seconds. Gathered charge stays until the sail fills. No precise timing is needed, and the ship travels without interaction.

At an arrival, Discoveries are credited automatically. Use Ship → Equipment to improve sails, instruments and Navigation. Scouts appear after the first charted place; cargo and current upgrades follow. A new place is remembered permanently in the Atlas, earns 4 Postmarks and improves future arrival rewards by 3% of base rewards.

## Choosing a route

Choose the next course from Voyage. A short passage returns sooner. A long expedition takes three times the distance and pays 3.75 times the base reward for the same destination. An unfamiliar current adds a place to the Atlas and receives a first-visit bonus. The route card shows unboosted travel duration and its ordinary next-arrival reward.

Your selection begins after the current arrival. It then repeats until changed, including while the app is closed. The Atlas also offers routes to places you already know. Navigation reveals unfamiliar places; known places remain available after resets. Completing all twelve places opens repeatable deep surveys.

Exceptional surveys double every seventh arrival. Current gathering equipment can reduce this interval to every third. The displayed ordinary route estimate does not include this occasional doubling.

## Returning

Travel and scouts continue in the offline calculation. The hold starts at eight hours. Each cargo level and each generation adds two hours, up to 24 hours through play. Optional Deep hold raises the cap to 32 hours. A longer absence never takes away what you already had. The return summary has already credited its displayed earnings and cannot be claimed twice.

Core gameplay works offline. Purchases and eligible restoration require Apple's services. The game uses the device clock; changing it can affect estimated absence. Backward clock changes do not create extra earnings.

## Two beginnings

New Bearings grants permanent Knowledge and 2 Postmarks. It resets temporary Discoveries, expedition totals, equipment, current route progress, queued course and boost. Every atlas entry, total Knowledge, generation, Postmark, sail colour, purchase and setting remains. Requirements use earned expedition Discoveries and at least five arrivals, not just the remaining balance.

Passing the Atlas requires eight entries and enough Knowledge earned since the last passing. It grants a new generation, 10 Postmarks, better future starting equipment and access to Beyond the Fold. Total Knowledge remains; only the since-passing counter resets. Subsequent passings require all twelve entries. Each review lists its precise current requirement, reward, losses and preserved items before confirmation.

## Postmarks and purchases

Postmarks are earned from first discoveries and beginnings, or purchased optionally in packs of 100 and 550. They never expire. Spend 25 to receive one hour of current ordinary route and scout Discoveries, or 40 for a permanent optional sail colour. Supplies do not advance travel or apply first-visit, exceptional-survey or current-boost bonuses.

Luminous charts permanently adds 50% Discoveries. Deep hold keeps up to 32 hours offline. Companion signal adds a permanent scout and 20% scout income. These are eligible for restoration with the same Apple Account, through the shop's Restore permanent purchases button. Delivered consumable packs cannot be restored on a fresh installation; keep an iPhone backup. Pending purchases arrive after Apple approval. Unfinished delivery retries on launch. Apple manages payments and refunds.

No advertisements, ad-removal purchase or subscription are included.

## Saves and recovery

Progress is local, with an atomic primary save and a previous valid backup. The game autosaves about every ten seconds, on changes and when leaving the foreground. If the primary is damaged, the backup is recovered and the damaged file is preserved. If both are unreadable, changes and purchases pause to protect the files.

Keep the app installed when investigating a problem. Settings offers Save now / retry recovery and an optional Export a save copy action. An export is not uploaded automatically. Contact support with the game version, iPhone model and a description; send a save only if you choose. Do not send passwords, verification codes or payment details.

Preserve save and begin a fresh voyage is separate from prestige. It preserves the current files and retains available Postmarks, colours, permanent purchases and preferences, while clearing atlas and Knowledge progress. The preserved files can help a support investigation. There is no in-app save-import interface or studio cloud sync in V1. Device restoration is managed by Apple's backup tools.

## Sound and appearance

Music and effects have separate saved volume controls. Audio respects the silent switch, pauses in the background and handles interruptions. A change to a sound control or a new foreground session resumes after a disconnected audio route. The game can be played silently.

Device follows the iPhone's appearance; Dusk stays softly lit, while Night uses deeper colours. System Reduce Motion is always respected, with an additional app motion preference. Haptics are optional. The current button gives the same reward as tracing without requiring a gesture. Text follows the selected Dynamic Type size.
